Tomato bath is nothing but our usual upma with a lot of tomatoes and rava. It makes great combo with coconut chutney / peanuts chutney.

Tomato Bath |
- Upma rava - 1 cup
- Water - 3 & 1/4 cup (use rava measured cup)
- Tomatoes - 3 (medium size)
- Onion - 1 (medium size)
- Green chilli - 4
- Ginger - small piece
- Curry leaf - as required
- Oil / ghee - 8tspn
- Mustard seeds - 1/2tspn
- Urad dhal - 1/2tspn
- Channa dhal - 1tspn
- Fennel seeds - 1/4tspn
- Cloves - 3
- Cinnamom - small inch
- Kaju - 5
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Salt - 1tspn

Method:
- Take a pan heat 2 tspn of ghee in medium flame and roast 1 cup of rava until golden brown.(figure 1)
- Take a pan heat remaining ghee add mustard seeds and wait for crackle and then add urad dhal, Channa dhal, kaju, green chilies, ginger, curry leafs and continue sauteing for 3 more seconds. (figure 2)
- Add onion, salt and saute until onion become soft. (figure 3)
- Add tomatoes, turmeric powder and saute until tomatoes become soft. (figure 4)
- Add 3 & 1/4 cup of water and close with lid and cook for 5 minutes or until bubbles come. (figure 5 & 6)
- Next add rava and mix continuously and close with lid & cook for 3 - 5 minutes. (figure 7 & 8)
- Open the lid and cook for other 2 seconds & serve in a bowl. (figure 9)
Additional Tips:-
- Roast the rava in golden brown.
- In step 6, cook the upma for at least 5 minutes.
